Majed Al-Argoubi: Transforming Saudi Arabia’s Industrial Landscape Through Innovation and Strategic Development

The MODON leader driving industrial growth, food security, and digital infrastructure across the Kingdom

As Saudi Arabia accelerates its economic transformation under Vision 2030, industrial development has become one of the key pillars supporting diversification, investment, and long-term economic sustainability. At the center of this transformation is Majed Al-Argoubi, the executive leading the growth and modernization of Saudi Arabia’s industrial ecosystem through the work of Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON).

Since assuming his current position in December 2022, Al-Argoubi has overseen initiatives designed to strengthen industrial competitiveness, attract investment, enhance infrastructure, and position Saudi Arabia as a regional hub for manufacturing, logistics, food production, and technology.

His leadership comes at a pivotal time as the Kingdom continues to expand its industrial base while investing heavily in future-focused sectors.

Managing One of the Region’s Largest Industrial Networks

MODON plays a critical role in supporting Saudi Arabia’s industrial ambitions.

Today, the authority supervises 39 industrial cities across the Kingdom and supports more than 7,400 factories operating on over 220 million square meters of developed industrial land.

This extensive network provides the infrastructure necessary for manufacturers, logistics providers, technology companies, and investors to establish and expand operations within Saudi Arabia.

Through these industrial cities, MODON contributes significantly to job creation, economic diversification, and industrial growth while supporting the broader objectives of Vision 2030.

Launching the Jeddah Food Cluster

One of the most significant projects under Al-Argoubi’s leadership has been the launch of the Jeddah Food Cluster in November 2024.

Spanning approximately 11.2 million square meters, the project is expected to attract around $5.3 billion in investments by 2035 and represents a major step toward strengthening Saudi Arabia’s food manufacturing and logistics capabilities.

The cluster is designed to consolidate critical activities including:

  • Cold-chain logistics
  • Halal food processing
  • Packaging solutions
  • Food manufacturing and distribution

By creating an integrated ecosystem for food production and supply chain operations, the initiative supports both domestic food security and international export opportunities.

The project also reinforces Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a leading regional hub for food production and processing.

Advancing Saudi Arabia’s Digital Infrastructure

In addition to industrial and food-sector development, Al-Argoubi has emphasized the importance of digital infrastructure as a driver of future economic growth.

In February 2025, MODON signed a series of strategic agreements with local and international partners to establish four new data centers across the Kingdom.

The projects represent investments totaling approximately $1.7 billion and are expected to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s digital economy, support cloud computing services, enhance data storage capabilities, and attract technology-focused investment.

The initiative aligns with broader national efforts to accelerate digital transformation and position the Kingdom as a regional technology and innovation hub.

Leadership Beyond MODON

Alongside his responsibilities at MODON, Majed Al-Argoubi serves as Chairman of ASAS Company, further contributing to development initiatives that support economic growth and infrastructure advancement.

His leadership roles reflect a commitment to building integrated ecosystems where industry, technology, logistics, and investment can work together to create long-term value.

Driving Vision 2030 Through Industrial Excellence

Under Al-Argoubi’s leadership, MODON continues to play a vital role in shaping Saudi Arabia’s economic future.

From expanding industrial cities and attracting manufacturing investment to launching major food industry projects and supporting digital infrastructure development, the organization is helping create the foundation for a more diversified and resilient economy.

His approach combines strategic planning, infrastructure development, and investment attraction to ensure that industrial growth remains aligned with the Kingdom’s broader economic transformation goals.

As Saudi Arabia continues its journey toward becoming a global industrial and innovation powerhouse, Majed Al-Argoubi remains at the forefront of efforts to build the infrastructure, partnerships, and ecosystems that will drive sustainable growth for decades to come.
