Dubai Launches Dubai+, a New Homegrown Streaming Platform for Entertainment, News and Live Sports
Dubai Media Incorporated unveils a family-friendly digital platform featuring exclusive series, original productions, live TV and over 170 international movies
Dubai has officially entered the competitive streaming landscape with the launch of Dubai+, a new digital platform designed to offer a comprehensive mix of entertainment, news, and live content for viewers across the UAE.
The platform was launched by Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. The announcement was made during a press conference held in Dubai on January 30, marking a significant milestone in the emirate’s evolving media strategy.
A Unified Streaming Destination
Dubai+ brings together local, Arab, and international content in one integrated platform, positioning itself as a one-stop digital destination for modern viewers. At launch, the service offers access to more than 20 exclusive series, six original productions, and over 170 international movies, alongside live television channels and sports coverage.
In addition to on-demand entertainment, Dubai+ features coverage of major sporting competitions and events hosted in Dubai, with the sports section alone broadcasting 12 live championships, according to Dubai Media Incorporated.
While the platform is now live, details regarding pricing or subscription plans have not yet been disclosed, leaving it unclear whether Dubai+ will operate as a free or paid service.
Aligned With Dubai’s Media Vision
Speaking at the launch, Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, highlighted the platform’s role within Dubai’s broader media ambitions.
She noted that the launch reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen the media ecosystem, encourage greater private-sector participation, and develop advanced storytelling capabilities aligned with Dubai’s future vision.
Designed for Today’s Viewers
According to DMI, Dubai+ has been developed to meet the growing demand for flexible, on-demand content that spans entertainment, news, sports, and original productions. Mohamed AlMulla, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Media Incorporated, described the launch as the first phase of a larger roadmap.
“The launch marks an important milestone in the platform’s development,” he said. “Future phases will expand its content offering and deepen audience engagement—further positioning Dubai+ as an integrated digital destination for Arab audiences.”
Family Safety at the Core
One of the platform’s defining features is its emphasis on safe, family-friendly viewing. Dubai+ includes built-in content controls and classification systems designed to give viewers, particularly families, greater confidence and control over what they watch.
