“Almost You” — Kéyoh’s Miraculous Comeback to Music

From silence to song: How a two-year battle with vocal loss inspired a deeply personal track and a renewed sense of gratitude.

For Kéyoh Ohanian, music has always been more than melodies and lyrics — it’s been her lifeline. But two years ago, that lifeline slipped away when vocal problems left her unable to sing. What followed was a journey of uncertainty, heartbreak, and self-discovery. Today, she’s back — stronger, more grateful, and ready to share her latest single, “Almost You.”

Speaking exclusively to Dubai Magazine, Kéyoh opens up about the spiritual connection that inspired her song, the emotions of regaining her voice, and the powerful lessons she’s learned from loss.

The Interview

D.M: Kéyoh, you’re back with new music after a two-year break. Tell us about that journey.
Kéyoh:
I get emotional even thinking about it. For two years, I couldn’t sing due to vocal problems. At one point, I truly believed I’d never sing again. This comeback feels like a miracle. Love, heartbreak, and personal awakening — they all have a strange power to heal not just your soul, but your body too. Being broken physically, especially my voice, made me realize that everything is temporary. We can’t take life, or our gifts, for granted.

D.M: Why “Almost You”? What is the song about?
Kéyoh:
It’s a very personal, almost mystical song. “Almost You” is about a love from a past life, someone I deeply connected with before, and then met again in this life. But in this reality, things were different. He wasn’t the same person I remembered. Life circumstances made the love impossible. It sounds complicated, but I think many people have felt this: meeting someone and feeling like you’ve known them forever, but the timing or situation just isn’t right. Every time I listen to the song, I feel it so deeply. I’m not even sure if I’ll be able to perform it live without crying.

D.M: What are you most looking forward to now that you’re back?
Kéyoh:
Just being back is already a dream come true. Everything that comes with it is a gift. Of course, like any artist, I’d love “Almost You” to become a worldwide hit, to reach number one on iTunes and every platform. But more than that, I’m just grateful. Grateful for the people who support me, and for that one person who inspired this song, in both past and present life. (laughs)

D.M: Be honest, is this talk about past lives part of the song’s marketing, or do you truly believe in it?
Kéyoh:
Anyone who’s followed my journey knows I’ve always believed in past lives. But at the same time, I also believe my future is in God’s hands. This isn’t some marketing trick. These emotions, these visions, they’re real. That’s how “Almost You” was born.

D.M: Can fans expect a music video?
Kéyoh:
Usually, when I’m writing or recording, I see visuals right away. But with this one, everything is still blurry. Abstract. I’m still in the moment of just being happy that I can sing again. I haven’t found the right visual concept yet — but I’m looking, and I trust it will come.

D.M: Last question — how was Dubai for you this time around?
Kéyoh:
Very special. Unexpected, short, but so worth it. I met incredible DJs who’ll be spinning “Almost You” soon. I met you and I can’t wait to see how that cover turns out. But the biggest surprise? I signed a major deal for the promotion of this single. Let’s just say… you won’t believe your eyes!

D.M: Thank you for your time — especially since you barely had any to spare in Dubai!
Kéyoh:
Thank you for having me. Always a pleasure.
