The UAE Open Kickboxing Championship is set to take center stage in Abu Dhabi this Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Space 42 Arena, Al Raha Beach. Over three thrilling days, the event will showcase the dedication, skill, and fighting spirit of 581 fighters from 39 different clubs, as they vie for glory in one of the nation’s most anticipated martial arts competitions.

Organized by the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, this year’s championship marks a significant milestone in the sport’s growth within the Emirates. With a clear focus on elevating technical standards and providing a platform for local talent to compete at a global level, the tournament promises to be a dynamic and inclusive celebration of martial arts.

The championship will feature two main disciplines: Point Fight and Kick Light, with competitors aged 7 to 40 participating. This diverse age range ensures that both seasoned fighters and emerging talent will have an opportunity to shine on the national stage. Preliminary weigh-ins and medical screenings will be held on Wednesday, November 20, at two venues— the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation headquarters in Abu Dhabi and the Holiday Inn Festival City in Dubai—before the competition kicks off on Friday at 3:00 pm.

Matches will continue throughout Saturday from 10:00 am, with the highly anticipated finals taking place on Sunday, starting at 10:00 am.

Ali Khouri, Board Member of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation and Executive Member of the International Kickboxing Federation, emphasized the tournament’s importance in advancing the sport in the region. “We are proud to host this prestigious championship, which aligns with our mission to support the development of Muay Thai and kickboxing through balanced and strategic initiatives,” Khouri said. “This tournament offers athletes invaluable experience and the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities in the ring.”

Established in 2017, the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation has become the official governing body for these sports in the UAE. The federation’s efforts aim to raise awareness, expand participation, and develop a community that celebrates both the technical and cultural aspects of Muay Thai and kickboxing. By organizing events like the UAE Open Kickboxing Championship, the federation is taking a significant step in nurturing emerging talent and strengthening the UAE’s position as a global hub for martial arts.

This championship not only offers a platform for local fighters to compete at the highest level but also plays a crucial role in identifying potential national team athletes for international competitions. As the countdown begins, anticipation continues to build for a weekend of fierce competition and remarkable performances.
