Landmark partnership with Crypto.com Pay underscores Dubai’s ambition to become a global digital finance hub

In a major step toward future-proofing air travel and enhancing customer payment flexibility, Emirates has announced plans to integrate cryptocurrency payments by 2026. The move will be enabled through a strategic collaboration with Crypto.com Pay, one of the world’s leading digital payment gateways.

The airline’s new initiative will allow passengers to book flights and services using select cryptocurrencies directly via Emirates’ platforms. The integration is part of the carrier’s broader digital transformation strategy and aligns with Dubai’s ambition to become a global hub for digital assets and blockchain-based innovation.

Supporting Dubai’s Fintech Vision

As Dubai accelerates its push into digital finance, Emirates’ adoption of cryptocurrency payments places it among the first major global airlines to embrace decentralized payment technologies. This decision reflects growing demand for flexible and innovative payment methods across the aviation and tourism industries.

The collaboration with Crypto.com, known for its secure and scalable crypto transaction infrastructure, is expected to streamline the payment experience for tech-savvy travelers and contribute to increased adoption of crypto in mainstream sectors.

Crypto in the Skies

By 2026, Emirates’ customers will be able to use Crypto.com Pay to make purchases in various cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other supported tokens. This effort also complements Emirates’ previous announcements of exploring blockchain applications for cargo logistics and loyalty programs, such as Skywards.

A Future-Ready Move

Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Chief Operating Officer, has previously hinted at the airline’s intentions to integrate cutting-edge technologies, including the metaverse and NFTs, into its service offerings. With crypto payments now part of its future roadmap, the airline reinforces its position as a leader in aviation innovation.

As global air travel rebounds and digital payment ecosystems evolve, Emirates’ embrace of cryptocurrency could set a new benchmark in the aviation sector, empowering travelers with choice, privacy, and ease in an increasingly digital-first world.
