UAE Weather Forecast: Rain, Thunderstorms, Hail and Fog Expected Across the Country

The UAE is preparing for unsettled weather, with forecasters warning of rainfall, strong winds and reduced visibility in some areas. Residents have been urged to follow safety advice, particularly when driving or visiting coastal areas.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has attributed the changing conditions to an extension of a surface low-pressure system accompanied by an upper-air low-pressure system.

Winds could reach speeds of 50 kilometres per hour, potentially raising dust and sand and reducing visibility on roads. Despite the unsettled conditions, temperatures are expected to remain relatively high, particularly in inland areas.

UAE Temperatures and Humidity Levels

According to the forecast outlined in the advisory, temperatures are expected to vary by location.

  • Inland areas: 35°C to 41°C
  • Coastal areas and islands: 34°C to 38°C
  • Mountainous areas: 26°C to 32°C

Humidity is also expected to rise towards the end of the week. Levels could approach 90% in some areas, increasing the likelihood of mist and fog, particularly overnight and during the early morning.

Motorists should be prepared for sudden changes in visibility, especially on roads running through coastal and inland areas.

Thursday Forecast: More Rain and Strong Winds

The NCM expects further rainfall and stronger winds on Thursday as convective clouds develop across eastern and western parts of the UAE.

These cloud formations could bring showers of varying intensity, while stronger winds may generate dust clouds and affect visibility.

Residents travelling between emirates or driving through exposed areas are advised to monitor official weather updates and allow extra time for their journeys.

Friday Forecast: Fog and Mist Risks Increase

Rain remains possible on Friday, although conditions are expected to range from fair to partly cloudy in several areas.

Clouds may develop over eastern parts of the country and could become convective during the afternoon, potentially producing further showers.

Increasing humidity could also lead to fog and mist across some coastal and inland locations overnight and into early Saturday. Drivers should remain particularly cautious during early-morning journeys, when visibility may deteriorate quickly.

UAE Ministry of Interior Issues Weather Warning

The UAE Ministry of Interior has urged residents to exercise caution amid the forecast of adverse weather conditions.

Its advisory warns that some areas could experience rainfall of varying intensity, thunderstorms, lightning, hail and strong winds. These conditions may create hazardous travel conditions and reduce visibility.

Residents are encouraged to follow official announcements from the Ministry of Interior and the NCM for the latest information on affected locations and changing weather conditions.

Road Safety Advice for Motorists

Authorities have called on drivers to reduce their speed, remain alert and follow traffic safety instructions during periods of rain and poor visibility.

Residents should also take precautions around areas vulnerable to sudden water flows.

Key safety recommendations include:

  • Reduce speed and leave additional space between vehicles.
  • Use appropriate lights when visibility is poor.
  • Avoid driving through flooded roads or fast-flowing water.
  • Stay away from wadis during rainfall because water levels can rise rapidly.
  • Avoid beaches and sea activities during unsettled weather.
  • Check official weather and traffic updates before travelling.

With rain, wind, dust and fog potentially affecting different parts of the UAE, residents should remain alert throughout the week and follow instructions issued by the relevant authorities.
