Dubai Traffic Set to Ease as RTA Begins Road Enhancements at 40 Key Locations

Summer 2025 initiative aims to improve flow and safety while minimizing disruption during holiday period

In a strategic move to improve traffic flow and enhance road safety across the city, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a comprehensive road enhancement campaign covering 40 key locations throughout the emirate. The upgrades, which began in early June, will continue through September 2025, making the most of the summer holiday lull to minimize disruption to commuters.

The RTA’s initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to optimize Dubai’s transport infrastructure and maintain the highest safety and operational standards. The timing of the project has been carefully planned to align with the summer school break, traditionally a period of lighter traffic, allowing smoother execution of improvement works while ensuring public convenience.

“The summer period offers an ideal window to carry out essential upgrades that would otherwise impact daily commuting,” said an RTA spokesperson. “Our goal is to ease traffic bottlenecks and enhance road safety without compromising the daily rhythm of life in Dubai.”

The selected 40 locations span high-traffic areas, intersections, and road corridors that have been identified through detailed traffic studies and public feedback. Enhancements include road widening, resurfacing, junction improvements, better pedestrian crossings, and updates to traffic signal systems — all designed to support smoother vehicle movement and improve overall urban mobility.

This large-scale operation reinforces RTA’s commitment to delivering proactive, user-focused transportation solutions. It also supports the objectives of Dubai’s Urban Mobility Strategy, which aims to make commuting more efficient and sustainable by implementing smart infrastructure and timely interventions.

Residents and motorists can expect to see visible progress over the coming months, with clear signage and diversions in place to ensure safety and minimize inconvenience. The RTA has also deployed advanced monitoring and communication systems to keep the public informed in real-time throughout the project’s duration.

By addressing both immediate traffic challenges and long-term urban growth, the RTA’s summer 2025 initiative marks another significant step in shaping Dubai’s future as a global model for integrated, smart, and sustainable transportation.
