Allegations of “Dubai Meeting” Fuel Political Turmoil in Tripura: Congress Claims BJP-TIPRA Alliance Forged Overseas

Former Health Minister's Accusations Unravel Alleged Pact Between Political Figures, Sparking Controversy in State Politics

In a dramatic turn of events, the political landscape of Tripura has been rocked by allegations of a clandestine meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where the alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) purportedly took shape. The startling claims made by the Congress party have ignited a firestorm of controversy, shedding light on the intricacies of political maneuvering and coalition-building in the region.

Former Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman, in a press conference held at the Congress Bhavan, made damning accusations, suggesting that the current political upheaval stems from a secret pact forged between Pradyot Kishore Debbarman and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb during their alleged trip to Dubai. While specifics remain murky, Barman insinuated that key decisions regarding TIPRA’s involvement in the state’s coalition government and candidate selection for the East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency were sealed overseas.

Amidst these claims, the Congress MLA also pointed fingers at Union MoS Pratima Bhowmik and Rebati Tripura, alleging that their denial of Lok Sabha election tickets was orchestrated by the collusive efforts of TIPRA and BJP leadership. The subsequent nominations of prominent figures, including former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Kirti Singh Debbarma, have further fueled speculation surrounding the alleged nexus between political entities.

While Kirti Singh Debbarma’s official candidacy under the BJP-TIPRA alliance signals a strategic electoral move, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman has vehemently defended the decision, emphasizing the importance of indigenous representation in mainstream politics. Acknowledging Home Minister Amit Shah’s role in the selection process, Pradyot expressed gratitude for the opportunity to advocate for marginalized communities.

In response to the accusations levied by Sudip Roy Barman, Pradyot dismissed them as politically motivated, citing historical alliances and predicting a favorable outcome for BJP candidates in the upcoming elections. Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, although unavailable for immediate comment, is poised to refute the allegations and address the unfolding controversy.

As Tripura braces for heightened political tensions and scrutiny in the wake of these revelations, the veracity of the “Dubai Meeting” allegations remains a focal point of contention. With stakeholders on both sides gearing up for electoral battles, the unfolding saga underscores the intricate dynamics of power-sharing and coalition politics in the region, shaping the trajectory of Tripura’s future governance.
