Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport Launches Biometric Smart Travel Project

Travelers flying through Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport can complete their immigration verification in as little as seven seconds.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office announced this advancement earlier this week, highlighting the airport’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience through innovative technology.

Introduction of the Biometric Smart Travel Project

The new Biometric Smart Travel Project leverages Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) data to authenticate passengers.

This cutting-edge technology integrates ticket and travel document verification into a seamless process, utilizing smart gates for identity verification.

• Passenger Processing Capacity: The terminal can handle up to 45 million passengers annually, process 11,000 travelers per hour, and accommodate 79 aircraft simultaneously.
• Facilities and Amenities: Terminal A includes 35,000 square meters of retail and F&B space, passenger lounges, relaxation areas, and a planned total of 163 dining and retail outlets across 742,000 square meters.
• Sustainability Initiatives: In accordance with the UAE’s focus on sustainability, the terminal incorporates energy-efficient lighting, advanced Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, and sustainable construction materials.
