Holiday marks Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, aligning public and private sector breaks

The United Arab Emirates has declared a holiday for both the public and private sectors next week to mark the occasion of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, giving residents across the nation a long weekend.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) confirmed that employees in the private sector will enjoy a paid day off, ensuring alignment with the public sector holiday schedule. This will result in a three-day weekend for much of the workforce.

The holiday is part of the UAE’s official calendar of national and Islamic occasions, aimed at honoring significant religious and cultural milestones while providing citizens and residents with time to observe, reflect, and spend with family.

The announcement adds to the growing anticipation among residents, many of whom plan short getaways or family gatherings during the extended weekend.

With the holiday falling close to the end of September, it marks one of the final long weekends of the year before the UAE prepares for upcoming festivities, including Commemoration Day and National Day in December.

The Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday is observed annually by Muslims across the world, reflecting on his life, teachings, and values of compassion, humility, and faith.
