This September marks a significant milestone as the Dubai Metro turns 15. To celebrate, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is going all out with an array of freebies, special collectibles, and exciting events that will make your metro journey even more memorable.
Since its grand launch on September 9, 2009, the Dubai Metro has become one of the city’s most efficient and popular modes of transportation. As the metro turns 15, the RTA has planned a series of celebrations that will delight regular commuters and first-time riders.
Collectors, this one’s for you! Emirates Post is releasing limited-edition stamps to commemorate the Dubai Metro’s 15th anniversary. Additionally, the RTA is launching a special edition NOL card featuring a campaign logo and a custom design created by LEGO. For those looking to take home a piece of the celebration, Al Jaber Gallery will offer metro-themed souvenirs that are a must-have for any fan.
On Saturday, September 21, LEGOLAND Dubai is hosting a special event for “Metro Babies”—children born between September 9, 2009, and September 9, 2023. Parents can register their kids on the RTA’s website to join in the fun-filled celebrations.
IGLOO Ice Creams is joining the festivities by launching limited-edition ice creams shaped like the Dubai Metro. As if that’s not exciting enough, some lucky ice cream lovers might find a special code inside their treat, giving them a chance to win one of 5,000 nol Terhaal discount cards.
To top off the celebrations, from Saturday, September 21, to Friday, September 27, the Dubai Metro stations will be filled with the sounds of the fourth Dubai Metro Music Festival. Passengers can enjoy live performances by Emirati and international musicians as they commute, making each journey a little more special.
