Abu Dhabi motorists should be aware of new traffic rules now in effect, including changes to parking regulations and guidelines for using the hard shoulder.

Introduction of New Paid Parking Areas:

Starting today, July 29, new paid parking zones have been implemented in Abu Dhabi, with specific changes to existing Mawaqif zones. Notably, the famous Etihad Plaza and Khalifa Commercial District are now subject to these new regulations.

Details of Affected Areas:

The new paid parking areas include:

  • Sector SW2: This sector covers Al Marmouq Street to the west and Al Qalayid Street to the east, offering 523 parking spots, including 17 designated for people of determination.
  • Sector SE48: Located at the Etihad headquarters, this area provides 694 parking spots.
  • Sector SE45: Situated at Etihad Plaza between Al Mireef Street and Al Ibtisamah Street, this sector can accommodate 1,283 vehicles, with 17 spaces reserved for people of determination.

The adjustments to the existing Mawaqif zones aim to minimize illegal parking incidents, enhance safety and security, and improve the city’s visual appeal. Abu Dhabi Mobility outlined these objectives on its Instagram account.

Important Note on Hard Shoulder Usage:

Abu Dhabi authorities have also reminded motorists about the proper use of the hard shoulder.

This area is designated for police, ambulances, and emergency vehicles and should only be used in emergencies. Using the hard shoulder as an extra lane for overtaking is prohibited and considered a violation.

Motorists are advised to adhere to these new rules to ensure compliance and contribute to a safer driving environment in Abu Dhabi.
