Emirates Golf Club to Host 2025 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship: A New Chapter for Regional Golf

Top Amateur Golfers from the Asia-Pacific to Compete for a Spot at The Masters and The Open in Dubai’s Premier Golf Event

Top male amateurs from the Asia-Pacific will vie for a chance to compete at the Masters Tournament and The Open at Dubai’s iconic Majlis Course

Dubai’s status as a premier golfing destination is set to rise even higher with the announcement that the 2025 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC) will be held at Emirates Golf Club’s famed Majlis Course. The prestigious event, scheduled for October 23–26, 2025, marks the second time the UAE will host the championship, following its regional debut in 2021. However, this will be the first time that Emirates Golf Club, the Middle East’s most iconic golf venue, will serve as the host.

The announcement was made by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), alongside the Masters Tournament and The R&A. The championship will feature top male amateur players from 43 APGC-affiliated organizations across the Asia-Pacific region, vying for an invitation to the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club and an exemption into The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale. The runners-up will also gain entry into the final qualifying round for The Open.

“We are proud of our tradition of hosting the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at world-class venues, and we’re excited to continue that by bringing the 2025 edition to Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis Course,” said Taimur Hassan Amin, Chairman of the APGC. “Dubai and the UAE have a rich golfing history, and we look forward to seeing some of the world’s best amateurs return next year.”

This landmark event will be the latest in a series of high-profile golf tournaments hosted in the UAE, underscoring the region’s rapid growth in the sport. The 2021 AAC, won by Japan’s Keita Nakajima, set the stage for even greater competition, and Nakajima has since become a notable player on the DP World Tour, with wins like the 2024 HERO Indian Open under his belt.

The UAE’s history of hosting prestigious golf events, such as the Dubai Desert Classic and the DP World Tour Championship, makes it an ideal setting for this premier amateur competition. As APGC Chairman Amin remarked, “We have seen tremendous growth in golf and many prestigious tournaments in the UAE over the years, and we’re excited for the 2025 Asia-Pacific Amateur to continue that legacy.”

The Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship has consistently been a proving ground for future golf stars. Past competitors include two-time AAC champion and 2021 Masters winner Hideki Matsuyama, as well as Cameron Smith, the 2022 Open champion. Other alumni, like Australia’s Cameron Davis, South Korea’s Si-Woo Kim, and Japan’s Takumi Kanaya, have gone on to successful professional careers, collectively winning over 130 events across major professional tours worldwide.

“It will be an honour to bring together such talent from across the Asia-Pacific region at Emirates Golf Club in 2025,” said General Abdullah Al Hashmi, Vice-Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation. Chris May, CEO of Dubai Golf, echoed this excitement, stating, “We are excited to host the 2025 AAC and look forward to welcoming players, officials, and guests to Emirates
