Apple is preparing to unveil a new iCloud-based event planning service, tentatively named ‘Confetti,’ aimed at simplifying event invitations and organization across its ecosystem. Set to be part of a major revamp to Apple’s Calendar app, the feature will reportedly integrate seamlessly with iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, internal testing of the service is expected to begin soon, potentially alongside the rollout of iOS 18.3.
‘Confetti’ aims to streamline how users invite others to events such as parties, meetings, and functions, offering an interactive and user-friendly alternative to the current system. While it’s still unclear whether this will be a standalone app or integrated into existing services, it is expected to sync with iCloud, enabling users to track invitations and confirm attendance. The feature might also work with iMessage and include a web version on iCloud.com.
Hints about ‘Confetti’ first emerged in January when references to an ‘Invites’ app appeared in iOS 18.3’s code. The introduction of GroupKit, a new iOS daemon that manages groups, further suggests that the service could revolutionize event planning, offering greater control and engagement. As Apple has remained silent about the feature, its impending release is generating significant anticipation.
